We’re still pinching ourselves, because 2016 was the year of dreams coming true for Flying Start Tuition, after we won two national awards in less than a month!

This achievement has spurred us on to want to achieve even bigger things to help our students fulfil their potential.

Two national awards

Our latest award was for best private tutoring company in the national Education Investor Awards on Wednesday, 16th November.

The award followed only three weeks after we managed to scoop another national award for best business working with children and families in the Best Business Women Awards for 2016.

Our founder, Sian Goodspeed says: “We are thrilled to have won both these awards – they are a fantastic recognition of all the hard work our team does and of our different approach to tuition. Our philosophy is to develop the whole child, rather than just focusing on the academic.  We aim to take the stress out of schoolwork and equip our pupils with life skills so that they become confident and independent learners.”

Leading light in private tutoring sector

The National Education Investor Awards promote excellence and recognise innovation in the education sector. The judges called Flying Start Tuition a ‘leading light in the private tutoring sector’ and praised the company for being a fast-growing business with an excellent corporate social responsibility approach in its local area.

Sian, who used to be a teacher, set up her own company after she became frustrated with the limitations of the education system.  The business focuses on giving children the individual attention and confidence they need to help them achieve their full potential in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Determination, creativity and tenacity

The Best Business Women Awards recognise the achievement of dedicated female entrepreneurs. Debbie Gilbert, organiser of The Best Business Women Awards said: “Finalists have been selected for their business acumen, determination, creativity and tenacity. Over 80% of start-ups fail in the first three years and all our finalists are shining examples of being successful entrepreneurs who have proved their success to our judges.”

3rd satellite centre and home educators’ support

During 2016 we also opened a third satellite centre in Jordans to accommodate the growing demand for tutors in this area. We already operate a main tuition centre in Chesham and two further satellite centres in Aylesbury and Little Chalfont.

Responding to a massive growth in the number of UK parents choosing to home-educate their children, we also launched a series of new courses and a supportive community for home educators.

Support for our favourite local charity

We ended the year on another high, with our sponsoring of The Theatre Shed’s heart-warming performance. We love being involved in this local charity and will continue to support them in 2017.

Nothing we achieved would have been possible without you the parents and children who continue to support us. We love to see the children grow and become more independent and confident by the day.

We wish all of you a fantastic 2017 and look forward to seeing you in one of our centres soon.
