GCSE English Flash Workshops
A series of workshops focusing on core GCSE English Literacture and GCSE English Language topics:
Workshop 1: Comprehension – how to write about text.
Providing students with strategies to analyse text, helping them find ways to structure their work and dealing with that all important question… where to start?
Workshop 2: Non-Fiction and Transactional Writing
Using the skills learnt in workshop one, students will learn to analyse non-fiction texts, then in the second half will learn how to write in the style of newspaper articles, letters and speeches, as required by the transactional writing section of all GCSE syllabus.


Students will analyse a range of modern and traditional poetry, learning how to interpret meaning and write about unseen texts.
Workshop 4: Creative Writing
Pupils will learn how to write simple narrative and description quickly, and in the style required by the GCSE syllabus. They will also develop techniques to make their creative writing stand out.
Workshop 5: Shakespeare
A theoretical and practical workshop where students will explore Shakespeare’s plays, learning how to interpret their meaning and understand the context in which they were written.
