How it Works
Which tuition is right for my child?
Every child’s needs are different, which is why we have a friendly team of advisers on hand who will be happy to talk through your options. We offer a range of term time and holiday courses for students aged five to sixteen.
Most parents opt for one of our small group lessons as most children prefer the dynamics of a small group and enjoy the interaction with their peers. For some students, however, a one-to-one lesson may be more appropriate. For more information on our one-to-one lessons, see the one-to-one information page or contact us to discuss your child’s needs.
If you are interested in booking a term time course, we offer a free trial lesson so that you can decide if it is right for your child. Trial lessons take place during existing classes.

Unique, holistic, effective
At Flying Start, we know that children need to be in the right mindset in order to learn effectively. We understand that every child is different and that a strategy that works for one may not work for another.
Our carefully selected tutors are trained in neuro-linguistic programming (NLP). This enhances their communication skills and enables them to better understand how different students learn so that they can tailor their approach accordingly.
We don’t just teach our students what to learn; we teach them how to learn and how to be more confident learners. In addition to curriculum content, our students are taught a range of neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) techniques to help them overcome any barriers to learning and become more effective learners.
Our unique, holistic approach to tuition means that learning is accelerated and the majority of our students report significant progress in school within less than a term of embarking on a course.
Group Lesson Format
Individually tailored tuition
Tuition takes place each week during term-time, usually lasting between one to two hours, depending on the course. During this time, pupils undertake a range of activities, including teacher-led and independent work which may involve computer tasks, worksheets and games. Teaching may be a mixture of individual, paired or small group, depending on the ages and abilities of the other pupils in the session.
Lessons are designed to be interactive and fun. The varied activities and pace within each session, interspersed with active movement, means pupils remain engaged and focused throughout.
Small group sizes allow time for individual attention where needed. Teachers use a range of strategies and resources to support children’s individual learning styles and to keep pupils engaged and focused.
We aim to work in partnership with parents and ongoing feedback is provided in the form of weekly report sheets. We hold termly parent-tutor meetings and our door is always open you wish to discuss their child’s progress at other times.
