We provide dynamic, effective tuition for children aged five to sixteen in English, mathematics and science, as well as a range of 11+ and 12/13+ courses. Lessons take place in one of our fully equipped classrooms in Chesham which are safe, stimulating learning environments where each child has access to his / her own computer. All our tutors have a wealth of experience and we always aim to make our lessons varied and fun, using a range of teaching strategies and resources.
A good education sets the foundations for future life and it is crucial that every child has a good grounding in the basics of ‘reading, writing and arithmetic’. As parents, you will probably be aware of the National Curriculum and the expected levels for pupils to reach at the end of each key stage. Unfortunately, it is not always possible for children to achieve these levels through regular schooling. All too often, children fall behind in maths and literacy at primary school and then find it incredibly hard, or even impossible, to catch up. This may be due to a variety of factors: large class sizes resulting in a lack of individual attention for pupils; teaching strategies that may not suit a particular child; or it could be that learning or behavioural difficulties have hindered a child’s progress.
Maybe your child is not struggling but you are one of the growing number of parents who turns to private tuition because they feel that their child’s needs are not being met at school. Perhaps your child’s teacher tells you he / she is ‘doing fine’ but you believe that he / she could be doing better. Or it could be that your child is particularly able but you are concerned that he /she is not being challenged enough. Or maybe your child is preparing for tests or exams and would benefit from some extra help.
Whatever the reason, Flying Start is here to help. Many children who are not realising their potential simply need that extra bit of support a good tutor can provide. Our expert tuition will provide your child with intensive, focused lessons that are devised just for him / her, not for a whole class or large group. Our pupils are taught the topics they need to be taught, at a level and pace appropriate for them and with methods that suit their learning style.
The extra attention they receive and our positive approach to teaching helps to increase our pupils’ self-belief and, as they start to realise they are making progress, their confidence begins to grow. As their confidence grows, so their progress improves and so this continues until, in no time at all, they really are coming on in leaps and bounds.
If you are considering tuition, please either email or call us or arrrange to come and visit us and we can discuss the best course of action for your child. If you decide to take matters further, we will book your child in for an initial assessment session or a trial lesson, depending on the type of tuition you are after. We will then do our best to find your child a tuition slot at a time that suits you. If we are unable to do this straight away, your child will be added to our waiting list and we will contact you as soon as a slot becomes available.
You are welcome to come for a free consultation before you commit to any tuition – please email or call us to arrange an appointment.
